Let me ask you something.
Do you think it’s better to play your strengths or focus on developing your weaknesses?
Think about that for a minute.
The best players, they know what they’re good at.
They play to their strengths to beat their competition.
When you play to your strengths, you’re playing at your best and helping your team the most.
You’re playing to your potential as a lacrosse athlete.
But you have to know what you’re good at.
- Are you a great dodger?
- Are your stick skills insane?
- Do you have great shooting accuracy?
- Are you fast? Are you quick?
- Are you shifty with exceptional change-of-direction?
- Do you have high Lax IQ?
- Are you a great feeder?
- Are you a power player?
- Are you effective at checking?
- Are you strong attacking from different angles?
- Have you mastered certain moves?
- Are you a great communicator?
- Are you great on the circle?
- Do you have great footwork?
- Do you have great defensive techniques?
- Do you stick your 8-meter shots?
- Are you good at the 2-man game?
- Are you great in transition?
- Do you have relentless rides?
- Can you devour ground balls?
- Are you a vocal leader on the field?
- Are you great at setting picks?
- Are you a tenacious defender?
- Are you a selfless teammate?
- Do you have great vision and field awareness?
- What do you do exceptionally well in lacrosse?
When you know your strengths – and play to them – you will excel on the field.
It’s that simple.
Play to your strengths.
Then work on your developmental areas that can make you an even more versatile and dynamic player.
But take the time to understand and leverage what you’re best at.
What’s the key to being a great lacrosse player?
Know your strengths.
